The MADE system (Mimosa Application Development Environment) has been used to develop a number of demonstrator applications, which are illustrative of the broad range of potential applications of Mimosa Wireless' Technologies.
Expert Systems
An Expert System for diagnosing and treating high levels of blood cholesterol.
This system gathers information about a patient, such as age, gender, and the results of various blood cholesterol measures. It then evaluates the patient's lifestyle, family history of coronary heart disease (CHD), and other CHD risk factors, before producing a diagnosis of the risk of CHD faced by the patient, given their blood cholesterol levels. If necessary, the system then proposes treatment for the patient, which can include diet and/or drug therapy. The expertise embodied in this system is based on that to be found in the US National Cholesterol Education Program "Second Report of the Expert Panel on Detection, Evaluation, and Treatment of High Blood Cholesterol in Adults".

An Expert System for Intensive Self Management of Type 1 Diabetes.
Currently under construction, this system will help diabetics to manage their blood sugar levels, keeping them as close to normal as possible, with the aim of reducing the number (and cost) of health care problems suffered by the patient as a result of diabetes side effects.
Intelligent Software Agents
An Intelligent Agent for Hotel Room Location and Negotiation.
This system engages in a negotiation process with a set of agents which represent hotels, with the aim of finding a hotel room which matches the user's selected criteria, including price, and the features and facilities of the hotel and the room. This negotiation process is undertaken within a finite time period. At the end of the negotiation process, the agent reports back to the user with a set of the 'best' room offers that it has received, according to the user's specification of the importance of each criterion for evaluating the room.

Games/Intelligent Computer Aided Instruction
An Intelligent Tutor for Texas Hold'em Poker.
This system, currently under development, illustrates the use of Mimosa Wireless 'technologies both for games and for Computer Aided Instruction. The played is able to play the game against a number of intelligent opponents, each of which can be configured for various features, such as aggressiveness, caution, and propensity to bluff. In addition, an Intelligent Tutoring system 'watches over the shoulder' of the player, with the aim of teaching the strategy of the game, while the player plays the game.
